Year Up program personal statement
I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Year Up (New York, NY) in July 2017.
A few months ago, I was told about this program called Year up from my school, because I was having trouble looking for job in the I.T due to lack of experience. I went to the info session, nearly got lost but friendly admissions counselor helped me. We played bingo as an ice breaker and then they gave us run through about what the program was about. Then they let us use they're computers to do applications. I received a link to forward documents, take a few test and essays. It wasn't hard at all. Few day later I received a call to come interview. The lady seemed really nice and the interview was long but really fun. We discussed goals, a bit about my personal life, scheduling and being a student at year up. At the end of the interview, she said you seem like a great candidate for the year up, program, within a week we'll reach out to for the next steps. In a week she called me for second interview. She told me to come in at 2:00 PM.I somehow for on the day of the interview I forgot she said 2:00 PM and came at 11:00 AM. At this moment I messed up. She let me take the interview with a guy who clearly didn't have time for an interview. Everytime I tried to say something he'd say something. He went on to say that we have a lot candidates to be students, just in case it you're not hires you try npower. Which I couldn't because I'm already A+ certificated. The interview was over in less than 3 minutes. A week from then I received an inevitable email, saying I didn't get accepted. This was all my fault for not paying attention. Don't make the same mistake I made.
